M/V Thor Harmony – Fire detection retrofit – Thoresen Shipping

The open-hatch bulk carrier "Thor Harmony," belonging to Thoresen Shipping and constructed in 2002, originally featured a Servoteknikk BMS-904 fire detection system. However, given the obsolescence of parts for this system, Lavastica recommended a strategic update, opting for a partial Salwico Cargo - STIM refit to enhance the vessel's fire detection capabilities. This modernization ensures continued safety and compliance for the ship in its maritime operations.

The open hatch bulk carrier “Thor Harmony”, owned by Thoresen Shipping is built in 2002. The ship was equipped with a Servoteknikk BMS-904 fire detection system. As the parts for this system are obsolete, Lavastica advised a partial Salwico Cargo – STIM refit. With this type of refit, the customer only needs to replace the fire alarm central and a small number of loops with detectors. Most of the old loops can be maintained and replaced in a later stage. The new system has to be programmed and commissioned as well, which is arranged in India by the service department of Lavastica. By using Lavastica as supplier, the fire detection system is upgraded in the most efficient way.
